Kalamazoo, MI:
On 5-21-20 at approximately 11:00PM Public Safety received multiple calls of a fire at Candlewyck Apartments. First arriving officers located residents evacuating the building and heavy smoke conditions in the hallways. A fire suppression team along with multiple search and rescue units were immediately sent into the building while ladders were set externally to help residents off of balconies. The fire suppression team was able to quickly extinguish the fire which prevented catastrophic damage to the structure. All residents were able to return to their apartments. No fire fighters or residents were injured during the incident.
The cause of the fire is suspicious and is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.
