HOUSE FIRE
Kalamazoo, MI:
On 5-12-20 at approximately 1800 hrs Public Safety received multiple calls of a house in the 700 block of S Rose St with the back porch on fire. Upon arrival, officers located the residence and discovered the back porch engulfed in flames. Search and rescue crews immediately entered the residence while a fire suppression team was able to knock the flames down. Continued aggressive fire suppression activities brought the fire under control in 20 minutes. The Red Cross was contacted to help multiple people find shelter due to fire and smoke damage to the other apartments in the structure.
The quick actions of the Public Safety Officers were paramount in preventing damage to the adjacent houses. No injuries to the residents or Public Safety Officers were reported. The Fire Marshal’s office has the fire under investigation.
Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 488-8911 or Silent Observer at 343-2100
