Shooting Suspect Arrested Two Firearms Seized

April 26, 2020 by Matt Schemenauer

On April 26th, 2020 at 11:20 AM, officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Operations Division responded to a report of a subject shooting at another subject inside a vehicle. Officers quickly arrived on the scene and located the shooting scene and evidence from the shooting. The 911 callers gave a good suspect description and his last known direction of travel.

While canvassing the area, officers located and attempted to contact the suspect. The suspect ran from officers and into a residence in the 1100 block Bridge St. Moments later, the suspect exited the residence and was arrested without incident. Officers searched the residence and located the suspected firearm, an additional firearm and suspected cocaine. The suspect, a 17-year old Kalamazoo resident, was lodged at Kalamazoo County Jail on numerous charges including Resisting and Obstructing Arrest, Felony Firearms, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.

Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 488-8911 or Silent Observer at 343-2100.
