2 MALES ARRESTED AFTER MAIL THEFT

March 18, 2020 by Kalamazoo Public Safety

Kalamazoo, MI
On 3/18/20, around 1:00 am, KDPS Officers were dispatched to a call reference two males who had just stolen mail from a mailbox in the 900 block of Reed Ave. These officers responded quickly and contacted two males in the area who were arrested on felony warrants. A search of their property resulted in U.S. mail, checks, forged documents, stolen ID cards, credit/debit cards and other property that didn’t belong to them.

The property located on them was from addresses and residences within the City of Kalamazoo, Township of Kalamazoo and City of Battle Creek. The two 50 year old, City of Kalamazoo residents, were arrested on unrelated warrants and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. A criminal case will be submitted for numerous felony charges ranging from larceny of mails, forgery, fraud and other financial crimes.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety takes the crimes of mail theft, package theft and other crimes very seriously and appreciates the community involvement in reporting such crimes.

Anyone having information regarding this incident, or any other crimes in Kalamazoo, is encouraged to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8994 or Silent Observer at 343-2100
