Edison house fire

At 10:51 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the 1700-block of James St in the Edison Neighborhood on a report of a house fire. The first officers arrived within a minute of the call, and encountered smoke coming from the second story of a two-unit apartment house. Officers initiated suppression efforts, and the fire was extinguished within 10 minutes.

All of the building’s residents escaped unharmed. No firefighters were injured.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of this fire.
