Increase in Stolen Vehicles

January 6, 2020 by Matt Schemenauer

Kalamazoo Public Safety has seen an increase in stolen vehicles over the past few weeks. Most of these vehicles have been stolen while left running and unlocked to “warm up” in their owner’s driveway. KDPS would like to share some helpful tips to protect your vehicle from theft:

1. Never leave your vehicle running unattended

2. Lock your doors and leave windows up

3. Don’t leave valuables where easily visible

4. Park in secure, well-lit areas

Kalamazoo Public Safety reminds citizens to practice good crime prevention techniques. Public Safety encourages anyone with information regarding these investigations to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 269-488-8911, Silent Observer at 269-343- 2100 or report online at www.kalamazoosilentobserver.com.
