Man Arrested After Shots Fired

December 12, 2019 by Scott VanderEnde

Kalamazoo, MI:

On Monday, December 11th, 2019 at approximately 03:53 am, for the second consecutive day, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the 200 block of Pierce Ave for a report of shots fired. A citizen observed a white SUV leaving the area after the shots were fired. The vehicle was located in the area and officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle. The vehicle fled, and a KDPS officer was able to deploy spikes to safely deflate the tires. Two occupants fled the vehicle on foot near the intersection of Sprinkle and Kilgore.

Kalamazoo Public Safety K9 “Axl” responded. Axl conducted a track of both the suspects. One suspect was located hiding in the woods near the intersection. The other suspect was not located. A stolen loaded handgun and methamphetamine was located in the suspect vehicle. As a result of this investigation a 40 year old Kalamazoo resident was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of methamphetamine, and resisting and obstructing.

The incident is still under investigation and Public Safety is asking anyone with information on this stabbing to contact Kalamazoo Public Safety at 488-8911 or Silent Observer at 343-2100, kalamazoosilentobserver.com.
