800 Woodbury-Subject Shot

Kalamazoo, MI:

In the early morning hours of 06/30/19, KDPS Officers were in the 800 blk of Woodbury Ave. Officers were dealing with large crowds that had gathered in the street. Several hundred individuals had gathered in the street. At approximately 0254hrs, while officers were on scene, gun shots were fired within the crowd. Officers located at 21 year old Kalamazoo resident with a gunshot wound. KDPS officers were hindered in rendering aid due to the large uncooperative crowd. Additional Law Enforcement Departments responded to assist in crowd control. The 21 year old male was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance. His status is not known at this time.

KDPS received assistance from Michigan State Police, Western Michigan University Police Department, Kalamazoo County Sheriff Department, Kalamazoo Township Police Department, & Portage Police Department to deal with the large crowd.

At this time there is no known suspect information.
