Traffic Disruption Notification- Eastbound I94

Kalamazoo, MI:

On Thursday, November 8th, 2018 around 5:15 PM, Kalamazoo Public Safety officers, along with several surrounding police and fire jurisdictions, were dispatched to an accident on eastbound I94 between mile markers 78 and 80. Officers are in the preliminary stages of the accident investigation. The accident is causing traffic back-ups on eastbound I94. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes of travel. More information regarding this accident will be released when it becomes available.

By authority of: Lt Danielle Guilds

*****************************UPDATE*********************************

All traffic lanes are now open on Eastbound I-94.

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and Michigan State Police worked together to investigate a traffic crash involving a semi-truck that left the roadway and rolled onto its side. During the investigation information was obtained that a vehicle moved into the semi-trucks’ travel lane causing the semi driver to take evasive action to avoid the collision.  During the maneuver the semi had a minor collision with an un-involved vehicle and then the semi left the roadway.  The vehicle that initially caused the incident left the scene.  There were no injuries sustained during the crash.  Drivers are reminded to give large vehicles extra room on the roadway as they take more time to maneuver.

By authority of: Lt VanderKlok
