2 guns seized, 1400 Hays Park

Kalamazoo, MI: On October 5th, 2018 at about 2:00A.M. Officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers were conducting surveillance in the area of 1400 Hays Park following reports of shots fired in the area. The surveillance led to two pedestrians being contacted, during that contact both fled on foot. As officers pursued one suspect he discarded a handgun just prior to officers taking him into custody. The second suspect also fled on foot after discarding a loaded handgun just prior to the contact with officers. KDPS is working to identify the second suspect that is not in custody. At this time a 41 year old Kalamazoo man has been lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on gun related charges along with resisting an officer.

Anyone who has information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8994 or Silent Observer at 343-2100.
