Kalamazoo, MI: On September 18, 2018, at approximately 10:46 p.m., the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety was dispatched to the 1600-block of Knollwood Ave. in reference to a home invasion which had just occurred. The resident was forced into his residence at gunpoint and several items were stolen. A short time later, a vehicle matching the description given by the victim was located near Grand Ave. and W Main St. During a short pursuit, two of the occupants fled the vehicle. The vehicle then continued to the area of Woodward Ave. and Mabel St. where a stop was conducted and the driver, a 19-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was taken into custody. Stolen property located in the vehicle was returned to the victims.
Over the course of the investigation, two additional 19-year-old Kalamazoo residents were identified as suspects, located, and arrested. Two firearms were also recovered; one of them reported as stolen.
Three suspects have been arrested and charges are being requested on two additional suspects. Charges include first degree home invasion, armed robbery, felony firearm, fleeing and eluding, unlawful imprisonment, conspiracy, aiding and abetting, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, larceny from a vehicle, and accessory after the fact.
