Vehicles Flees from officers, Suspect in custody

Fleeing and Eluding Arrest

On 08/31/2018 at 10:17PM, officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety attempted to stop a vehicle for running a stop sign on Race St at Bryant St. The suspect failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed onto Portage Rd, running a stop sign and almost striking a passing motorist. Officers chose not to pursue the vehicle. Upon checking the area, the suspect vehicle was located in the 1000 block of Miller Rd pulled into a driveway. The male driver fled on foot upon seeing officers. Officers pursued on foot through back yards but lost sight of the suspect. Police K9 Bach conducted a track with the assistance of additional officers and the suspect was located hiding near a garage in the 1100 block of Miller Rd. The suspect, a 40 year old Kalamazoo resident, was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing officers, driving with a suspended license, and eight outstanding warrants for his arrest.
