Gas Leak

Downtown Gas Leak

Kalamazoo, MI:

On August 13, 2018 at 1030 am, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety was dispatched to the 300 Block of Portage Rd on report of a gas leak. Upon arrival, it was determined that a construction crew severed a natural gas service line. As a result; sections of Portage Rd and South St were closed for several hours while the natural gas leak was mitigated.

Currently, South St from John St to Portage Rd is still closed, the duration of the road closure in unknown at this time.
