Community Involvement Leads to Stolen Guns

Kalamazoo, MI: On Monday, July 23, 2018 at approximately 8:20 PM, Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were dispatched to a citizen report of a man near the intersection of Douglas Ave., and Summit with a gun. Officers were able to observe a person fitting the description who entered a vehicle in the 100 block of Cadillac. A traffic stop was conducted and two handguns were recovered.

A 27 year old Kalamazoo resident was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. A 15 year old Kalamazoo resident was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo Juvenile Home. Criminal charges included carrying a concealed weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, and stolen firearm.

Kalamazoo Public Safety acknowledges that it can be difficult for citizens to get involved in incidents such as these and would like to thank those in the community who do.
