Fatal Traffic Crash

Car versus Bicycle Crash at S Westnedge Ave and Park Place

Kalamazoo, MI: On Friday, July 6th, 2018 at approximately 10:42 P..M, Kalamazoo Public Safety officers began investigating a rollover accident at S Westnedge Ave and Park Pl. A vehicle traveling south on S Westnedge Ave left the roadway just south of Park Pl Ave, struck a pole, then rolled over at least once. After the vehicle lost control, it also struck a subject on a bicycle before coming to rest. The passenger of the involved vehicle, a 27 year old Kalamazoo man, had to be extricated and did not survive. The driver was able to exit the vehicle and is being treated for non life threatening injuries. The bicyclist is also being treated for non life threatening injuries. The accident is currently under investigation.

As this investigation continues, S Westnedge Ave will remain closed for several hours south of W Vine St and North of E Crosstown Parkway.
