Kalamazoo, MI: On Wednesday, December 13th, 2017 at 6:51 am, Kalamazoo Public Safety responded to the 900 blk. of James St for a report of a structure fire. When officers arrived on scene they found heavy smoke and observed fire coming from the attic area. Fire suppression efforts were started and officers assisted in evacuating a resident in the lower floor apartment. After approximately twenty minutes the fire was extinguished. No civilians or officers were injured during the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshall.
