Traffic Stop Leads to Weapon and Drug Charges

Kalamazoo, MI:

 On Saturday, December 9th, 2017 around 03:00 AM, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer Nick Oliver initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3700 block of E Cork St after observing it driving recklessly in the area. The driver, a 25-year old female, was found to have multiple warrants for her arrest and was taken into custody on scene. The passenger, a 44-year old male, was also found to have a warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody. Both the driver and the passenger were lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail for their respective warrants.

During the traffic stop, probable cause was established to search the vehicle which led to the recovery of a loaded .380 pistol, marijuana and open containers of alcohol. Additional charges are being sought against the driver of the vehicle for obstruction. Additional charges are being sought against the passenger for Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Marijuana, and Open Intoxicants in a vehicle.
