Train Pedestrian Accident 400 block of E. Michigan

Pedestrian/Train Accident

Kalamazoo, MI:   On August 14th, 2017 at approximately 9:47 P.M, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were dispatched to a report of a Train Pedestrian Accident near the 400 block of E. Michigan.  Upon arrival, Public Safety Officers located a 53 year old male suffering from injuries to his legs after being struck by a train.  Public Safety Officers applied tourniquets and rendered aid to the male.  The victim was transported by Life EMS to Bronson Hospital, where he is currently in surgery.  The investigation is still ongoing as to how the incident occurred, but it is believed that the incident was an accident and no foul play is suspected.  The male was seen by the train Conductor walking near the tracks just prior to the incident.  At this time, it is unknown how the male came into contact with the train.    No traffic closures are anticipated due to the investigation.
