Shots Fired Call Leads to a Search Warrant

Shots fired call leads to a search warrant

Kalamazoo, MI:

On August 6th, 2017 at approximately 1000hrs, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety was dispatched to the 1000 Block of Trimble Ave in reference to a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a citizen whom witnessed the suspect fire a long gun into the air after a verbal altercation with another individual. Throughout the course of the investigation, officers were able to contact the suspect and gain additional information regarding the case. As a result, officers obtained a search warrant and searched one of the involved apartments. Inside the apartment, officers located a loaded shotgun, several rounds of ammunition and a host of suspected narcotics.

The suspect, a 31 year old Kalamazoo resident, was arrested for felony assault, felony firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and felon in possession of ammunition. Additional drug related charges will also be sought against the same individual. The suspect was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail and is awaiting arraignment.
