Workplace Death from Traumatic Injury

Update – Victim Identified: Kalamazoo Public Safety offers its condolences to the Murdock family for the loss of Christopher Hugh Murdock, a 45 year old resident of Kalamazoo. Although the incident remains under investigation, foul play is not suspected.

Kalamazoo, Michigan: On August 1, 2017, at approximately 2:28 p.m., Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the 2200-block of Palmer Ave. for a report of a subject injured as a result of what was described as a small explosion. The first arriving officers located a 45-year-old Kalamazoo resident, with severe traumatic injuries, and immediately began first aid. Medical treatment continued, until it was determined the subject had succumbed to his injuries.

The circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation. Kalamazoo Public Safety wishes to extend its sincerest condolences to the family. The name of the victim will be released once Public Safety has ensured that all necessary notifications have been made to the family.
