Suspicious House Fire
Kalamazoo, MI: On Friday, April 21, 2017, at approximately 12:55 p.m., Kalamazoo Public Safety received several reports of smoke coming from a house in the 100-block of E. Belmont. First arriving officers observed smoke coming from the residence and immediate began fire suppression measures. The fire was extinguished quickly. No one was home during this fire and there was no one injured. Several factors involving the fire were suspicious in nature and at this time the cause of the fire is under investigation.

****UPDATE****
Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers investigated the incident further, which lead to the arrest of the person who set fire to the house. The suspect, a 35-year-old Kalamazoo resident was arrested without incident on Saturday, April 23, 2017 at approximately 3:30 pm. The name of the suspect will not be released until she is arraigned. The charge of Second-Degree Arson is being requested.
