February 3, 2017 by Jon Thurn

Kalamazoo, MI:  On Thursday February 2, 2017, at about 10:06 pm, a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his shoulder walked into Bronson Hospital.  The man reported being shot with a shotgun during a robbery.  In response, Public Safety dedicated a tremendous number of resources to investigate the alleged robbery.

Officers scoured the area of S. Westnedge Ave. and E. Crosstown Pkwy. looking for evidence.  Eventually, the investigation led to the 1800 block of Bushouse Ct. where they found the scene.  Officers interviewed witnesses and processed the scene.  A woman made statements regarding the incident to corroborate the robbery story.  Through the investigation, officers were able to determine that no robbery occurred.

The man, a 20 year old resident of Kalamazoo, was arrested for False Report of a Felony.  The woman, a 25 year old resident of Kalamazoo, was arrested for False Report of a Felony and Reckless Discharge of Firearm Causing Injury.  Both were lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
