Burglary suspect arrested after breaking into a home and car

On January, 22nd, 2017, around 1309hrs Kalamazoo Public Safety responded to the 400blk of Eldred for a home invasion. A neighbor had observed the suspect break into his neighbor’s residence and vehicle. The neighbor called Public Safety and provided a description of the suspect. As officers arrived on scene the homeowners had arrived home. Several items were stolen from the residence to include electronics, groceries, and other personal effects. A k-9 track was attempted and several items stolen were discovered along the track.

A Public Safety Sergeant was on patrol in the 700blk of N Westnedge. The Sergeant observed a male matching the suspect’s description and made contact with him. The suspect had the stolen property in his possession and after being interviewed admitted he broke into the victims residence and vehicle. The suspect, a 51 year old male was arrested for home invasion and larceny from motor vehicle.

Kalamazoo Public Safety would like to thank the alert neighbor for calling in the criminal activity they observed..
