Officers locate drugs and stolen firearms during vehicle search

December 14, 2016 by Kalamazoo Public Safety

Kalamazoo, MI: On December 13, 2016 at about 8:29 pm, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety dispatchers received a tip that a man was brandishing a rifle in the area of Westnedge Ave and Ada St. The caller was able to provide the suspect’s name and a vehicle description. Public Safety Officers quickly began searching the area for the suspect.

A short time later, Officers located the suspect inside the vehicle in the 500 block of Horace Ave. The male, a 20 year old Kalamazoo resident, was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant. Officers on scene could clearly see a firearm in plain view inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed two firearms and various controlled substances. It was discovered that both firearms were reported as stolen in Kalamazoo County.

The suspect was arrested for several charges, including possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, carrying concealed weapons and possession of stolen firearms. He is currently being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
