Kalamazoo, MI: On Sunday December 4, 2016, at approximately 2:30 A.M., Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were dispatched to Little Darlings located at 1336 Ravine Rd. regarding a man armed with a gun. The manager reported a disturbance at the business and saw one involved man with a gun in his waistband. That suspect left the business as officers were en route to the call.
Responding officers saw the suspect on Douglas near Ravine and a foot pursuit ensued. The suspect ran toward a wooded area. But, officers tackled him before he was able to make it into the woods. The suspect and officers landed in a stream and the officers were able to take the suspect into custody without further problems. A stolen pistol was found in the pants of the suspect after officers had him secured.
The suspect, a 19 year old man from Grand Rapids, was arrested for CCW, possession of a stolen firearm, felony firearm, and resisting and obstructing a police officer.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety would like to thank the manager who contacted the police about this dangerous person. It was only with the help of the community that the police were able to take another stolen firearm off the streets before someone was seriously injured or killed as a result of a minor dispute.
