Kalamazoo, MI: On Thursday, November 24th, at approximately 1230 a.m., Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to a report of two subjects attempting to break into an apartment in the 1500 block of Kickapoo Ct. A Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer was in the area conducting directed patrols to curb holiday thefts. This officer was able to quickly respond and observed one of the suspects’ exiting the home while the other stood watch. He was able to take both subjects into custody without incident. The investigation revealed one of the suspects had used burglary tools to break the rear slider door, enter the apartment and prepare items inside to steal.
The suspects, a 26 year old male and 29 year old male, were both arrested on Home Invasion charges and possession of burglary tools. Both were lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers will continue to conduct directed patrols over the holiday weekend due to residents traveling for Thanksgiving. Public Safety reminds residents to secure their property while they are away.
