Search Warrant Uncovers Gambling and Drug Activity

October 6, 2016 by Jon Thurn

Kalamazoo, MI: On October 6, 2016 the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety went to the area of Krom and Clay Street on a call of a fight in progress.  Upon arrival, officers noticed subjects that were involved in the fight enter a house in the 1300 block of Krom Street.  When officers went to knock on the door to investigate the fight, there was no answer.  Officers observed telltale signs of drug activity at the residence.

Public Safety Officers obtained a search warrant and served it at approximately 3 P.M. this afternoon.  Seven subjects were found inside of the residence.  Obvious signs of gambling to include a casino style dice table were found in the living room of the residence.  A large amount of Marijuana, gambling equipment, and gambling proceeds were seized in the service of the search warrant.

At the completion of the search warrant seven Kalamazoo residents were arrested on various charges.

Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8994 or Silent Observer at 343-2100
