Kalamazoo, MI: On Saturday, August 27, 2016, at approximately 03:00 A.M., Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were conducting foot patrol in the 1300 block of N. Burdick where a large crowd had gathered. While addressing the crowd issues they observed a subject grab a gun and point it at someone. They then heard a female yell “Don’t do it!” The suspect fled on foot upon noticing officers approaching. He was apprehended without incident after a short foot pursuit.
A loaded semi-automatic handgun was recovered from the suspect after he was arrested. The gun was later found to have been stolen in Nevada.
The suspect is a 24 year-old Kalamazoo resident. He was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a stolen handgun, resisting and obstructing, and felon in possession of a handgun.
