Kalamazoo, MI: On Saturday, August 6, 2016 around 7:45 am, Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Gull Road regarding a home invasion that had just occurred. According to the reporting party, a known male subject entered the home armed with a handgun and assaulted the resident. The suspect then fled the house on foot.
Several hours later, Sgt Andres Wells and Officer Kevin Seckler were on foot patrol in the 100 block of Candlewyck Drive when they were able to determine a possible location of the suspect. Officers made contact at the location and were able to arrest the suspect without incident. A handgun, believed to be used in the original home invasion, was recovered from inside the apartment. The suspect is a 42 year-old male Kalamazoo resident. The suspect was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail for Home Invasion, Assault with Intent, Felony Firearm and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
