Edison Block Party to be Held on Friday, August 5, 2016

August 4, 2016 by Jon Thurn

Kalamazoo, MI:  On Friday, August 5th, 2016 citizens throughout Kalamazoo are invited to the Edison Neighborhood Block Party Event hosted by the Gilmore Foundation, Kalamazoo Experiential Learning Center and the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.   This event will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Washington Square Business District located at Portage Rd and Stockbridge St in the City of Kalamazoo.

The event is being held to create a sense of community, to promote police-community partnerships, and to have fun!  Many organizations will be hosting a variety of special events such as a variety of outside games, live music, and youth activities.  Officers from the Kalamazoo Dept. of Public Safety will also have a fire truck and police car on display.

The success of this event is due to the many volunteers from our local businesses as well as monetary support of participating vendors.

It is our sincere desire to make our neighborhoods a safe and attractive place to live and visit. This is one of the many initiatives taken on by both the Neighborhood Associations and the community partnerships within the City of Kalamazoo to strengthen the relationships between the youth and Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
