KDPS Responds to Working Structure Fire, Rescues Mother and Infant

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety crews responded to a working structure fire at approximately 4:16 p.m. Friday, May 15, at a two-story residence divided into three living units in the 1200 block of Washington Avenue.

Dispatchers were advised that a porch was on fire and that a woman and her infant were trapped inside the second-floor unit.

Arrests Made in Attempted Armed Robbery

Around 1 a.m. on May 7, 2026, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) officers responded to an attempted armed robbery in the 1000 block of Interfaith Boulevard. The victim reported being held at gunpoint by two subjects during a robbery attempt. The suspects fled before police arrived.

KDPS Investigating Shooting Incident on North Park Street

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) is investigating a shooting that injured two juveniles Tuesday evening.

At approximately 6 p.m. on May 5, 2026, KDPS officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting in the 1700 block of N. Park Street. Callers reported seeing two males fleeing the area, including one reportedly armed with a firearm.
