Firearms recovered during two separate domestic assaults

On July 10, 2016 around 8:20am., Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the 1000 block of Hazard on a 911 call of a man with a gun. Upon arrival Officers made contact with the caller and a 72 year old, male Kalamazoo resident. During the course of the investigation Officers learned the male suspect and the caller were roommates. The male suspect had a pointed a shotgun at the caller and then fired a round through the ceilingĀ into the occupied second floor apt. No one was injured when the shot was fired. A search warrant was drafted for the residence and the shotgun was recovered. The male suspect was arrested for felony domestic assault, felony firearm and firing into an occupied dwelling.

On July 10, 2016 around 11:19am, Kalamazoo Public Safety responded to the 1000 block of Newland on a 911 complaint of a male who had pulled a handgun on the caller. Upon arrival Officers made contact with both the caller and the 21 year old, male Kalamazoo resident. During the course of the investigation Officers learned the male suspect pulled out a handgun and pointed at his sister and her boyfriend. The male suspect then hid the handgun in the house as Officers arrived. A search warrant was drafted for the residence and two 9mm handguns, a 20 gauge shotgun and a taser were recovered. The male suspect was arrested for felony assault and felony firearm.
