Officers arrest armed robbery suspect, recover stolen phone

On May 17, 2016 around 6:30a.m, Kalamazoo Public Safety was dispatched to Glassmasters, located at 831 Cobb for an armed robbery investigation. The victim, who is an employee of Glassmasters, told officers he was standing in the business parking lot when he was approached by two males and robbed at gun point. After assaulting the victim, the suspects stole his cell phone and wireless headset. According to a witness the suspects fled the area in a vehicle. The victim was taken to Bronson Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Public Safety officers conducted a diligent investigation that led them to the 1500blk of North Church St. Officers were able to identify a suspect and recover the stolen phone. A 17 year old male was arrested for armed robbery and receiving and concealing stolen property. The investigation into the identity of the second suspect is on-going. At this time the victim has been released from the hospital and his stolen cell phone has been returned to him.
