Four Transported to Hospital after Accident in Stolen Car

February 29, 2016 by Matthew Huber

Kalamazoo, MI: On Monday, February 29th, 2016, at approximately 5:19 p.m., Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to report of an accident in the 400 block of N. Westnedge. Upon arrival officers located a 1996 Ford Contour occupied by four subjects with significant front end damage. Two of the occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle. Through witness statements, officers determined that the Ford Contour was traveling S/B on N. Westnedge at high rate of speed when it lost control and side-swiped a vehicle. After the initial collision, the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a utility pole. The four occupants were transported to Bronson Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No injuries were reported from the other vehicle involved in the crash.    A records check revealed that the Ford Contour had been reported stolen out of Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s department. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. The crash is still under investigation.

Anyone who may have information regarding this investigation is asked to call Kalamazoo Public Safety at 337-8994 or Silent Observer at 343-2100 or www.kalamazoosilentobserver.co
