UPDATE: 10-Year-Old Injured in Accidental Shooting

On Friday, September 18, 2026, around 10:14 p.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) officers were notified that a 10-year-old boy had arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. The boy received medical treatment and was released from the hospital later that night. He is recovering at home.

KDPS Arrests Domestic Assault Suspect After Hours-Long Standoff

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) officers arrested a 41-year-old man Sunday morning following a felonious domestic assault investigation that led to an hours-long standoff and SWAT response.

KDPS Investigates Several Small Fires on Kalamazoo’s Northeast Side

During a 6-hour period spanning the evening of August 28th into the early morning of August 29, 2026, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) responded to 5 small fires throughout the northeast side of the city. An investigation into the cause of these fires is still ongoing. However, investigators are looking into the possibility that the fires were intentionally set.
