The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety has identified the victim of the July 11, 2026, fatal shooting in the 700 block of North Westnedge Avenue as Vontavion Arquice Dajuan Jackson, 21, of Kalamazoo.

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, at approximately 2:51 a.m., officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) responded to reports of shots fired in the 700 block of N. Westnedge Ave. While en route, officers learned that a person had been shot.
