KDPS Seeks Help Identifying Person of Interest in Recent Burglaries

Since June, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) has been investigating a series of burglaries in the Kalamazoo area. The suspect has targeted multiple hair and nail salons throughout Kalamazoo, Portage and Oshtemo. The most recent incidents occurred during the early morning hours of August 11, 2026, near the 4200 block of Portage Street, where two local businesses were burglarized.

Second Conviction in 2024 West Main Shooting

A second Kalamazoo man has been convicted in connection with a 2024 shooting that injured four people.

On December 3, 2024, at approximately 5:19 p.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of West Main St. for a report of shots fired.

CRT Arrests 2 Juveniles Armed with Stolen Firearms

On July 27, 2026, members of the Crime Reduction Team (CRT) were conducting a directed patrol to combat gun violence in the 4400 block of Lilac Lane. During the directed patrol CRT members observed a 15-year-old male juvenile demonstrating characteristics of being armed with a firearm.
