The largest and most visible division in KDPS, the Operations Division is responsible for initial response to all police, fire, and emergency medical calls for service.  Citizens who need public safety services, whether for an emergency or to report an incident that is not an immediate threat to people or property, will be served by Operations Division personnel--Public Safety's first responders.  The Operations Division consists of, and is responsible for:

In 2012 the Operations Division will continue to focus on reducing crime and providing the most effective, efficient and professional police, fire and EMS services available through focusing on the following four service objectives:  Enforcement, Blight Reduction, Community Interaction, and Training.  Assisting in these four objectives will be enhanced crime analysis, which when evaluated weekly, will allow rapid assessment of crime trends and resources to address identified trends.  Operations will continue initiatives such as participation in youth academies, and explorer programs and continue to maintain positive interactions through daily foot patrols, targeted at reducing youth violence in neighborhoods.  The Operations Division will continue to utilize the Power Shift Officers to enhance patrols during peak times of service demand and will continue directed and saturation patrols, as necessary.
