Suspect in Milo Conklin Homicide Arrested in Atlanta, GA this Morning

 

 

Kalamazoo, MI:  On Sunday, April 24, 2011, at approximately 9:10pm., Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 600 block of Mabel St.  Responding officers discovered Milo Conklin, a 35-year old Kalamazoo resident, had been shot.  Mr. Conklin died as a result of the injuries.  A second victim, a 51 year old Kalamazoo man, was also discovered at the scene to have minor injuries from a gun shot. 

 

 

Sam Steel has been on the run since December 2011, when the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office issued a six count warrant against him for the murder of Milo Conklin.  This morning, Sam Steel was arrested by an FBI Task Force just north of Atlanta, Georgia as a result of a joint Kalamazoo Public Safety and FBI investigation.

 

Sam Steel is being held in the Gwinnett County Georgia jail pending an extradition hearing.  He will be returned to Kalamazoo to face six charges in connection with the murder of Milo Conklin, those charges include: Open Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and two counts of Felony Firearms.
